Teaching: Time and effort shall be devoted to teaching andteaching related activities. This shall include medical students,graduate students, allied health students, residents, and fellows,nursing personnel and colleagues where appropriate. Teachingresponsibilities also shall be considered to include preparation ofinstructional materials, evaluative materials, testing andmaintenance of personal professional skills through continuingeducation, advising and mentoring trainees and participation inacademic reinforcement programs.2. Research: To support clinical research protocols in recruitmentand adjunctive clinical management.3. Service: Participation in activities to support theeffectiveness of the Division of Cardiology and the Department ofInternal Medicine will be appropriate and will be assigned in thefuture based on mutual agreement. Clinical: Your primary clinical responsibilities will beproviding clinical care for the Division of Cardiology patients ininpatient and outpatient settings. Heart Failure & Transplantspecific duties include: a) enhance the capacity and innovativecare of the heart failure and transplant service. b) outpatient CHFclinics at least 3 half days per week with representation in thecommunity. c) regular rotations for inpatient clinical service andoff hours coverage for Team C service and consults. Required Qualifications Posted Salary Expanding the heart failure program is one of the primaryinitiatives of the heart center. Significant opportunities exist inthe Richmond area as well as outlying areas. Demand for access toour program continues to grow. Outreach efforts have been extremelysuccessful. We plan to continue this effort with also developingoffices outside the MCVH campus. Heart failure cardiologists alsowork in the cath lab doing their biopsies and right heart caths.Heart Failure provides the platform to supply the overallcardiology program with patients for a multitude of procedures.Heart failure is key to the success of the heart transplant anddevice program – signature program of the organization. Candidateshould be clinically oriented and possess sufficient research andteaching experience to be eligible for academic appointment. Thecandidate must be able to communicate effectively and work with alarge multidisciplinary program. The successful candidate will beexpected to participate in teaching and educational programs.Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in the state ofVirginia.
