first_img Share Share Sharing is caring! 21 Views   no discussions Tweetcenter_img Share LocalNews Heroism prevents casualty in Laplaine fire, says Fire Chief by: – March 22, 2011 The heroic effort of one individual averted casualty in a weekend fire in Laplaine, the fire department said Monday.In a report on the matter, Fire Chief Josiah Dupuis identified two individuals Diana and Hayden as those who were in the home of Mary Jno Baptiste at the time of the incident Saturday evening, and “from the information which we received, it would appear that Diana was actually very heroic in her rescuing of Hayden, from the bedroom, where it would appear that the fire started.”Dupuis revealed that the fire to the 40 ft by 30 ft three bedroom house appeared to have originated from a faulty fan which caught ablaze subsequently engulfing the bedroom where it was located and later, other parts of the building.The structure was occupied by Jno Baptiste and a few of her children, according to Dupuis.“We are extremely saddened by the tremendous loss that Miss Jno Baptiste would have had because of that particular fire,” he stated.Source: DBS NewsPhoto Credit: GIS Newslast_img
