Exclusive – Man City legend warns Pellegrini: You’re heading for the sack!

first_imgRodney Marsh believes Manuel Pellegrini could be heading for the exit door at Manchester City,It has not been a good start to the season for the Premier League champions, with City already six points behind leaders Chelsea, struggling in Europe and out of the Capital One Cup.And Marsh, the club’s legendary former striker, has warned Pellegrini he must reverse the poor run of form and deliver the title, or success in the Champions League, to save his job.Speaking on the Hawksbee and Jacobs show, he said: “I think he will get the sack. There is every chance if this carries on that Pellegrini will be out the same as [Roberto] Mancini was.“If Pellegrini carries on like this, and Man City don’t win the league or get to the final at least of the Champions League, I think Pellegrini is sacked.”The cup defeat at home to Newcastle on Wednesday night stretched City’s winless run to three matches.Marsh is hopeful they will get back to winning ways in Sunday’s derby clash with Manchester United, but admits he harbours serious concerns about the make-up of Pellegrini’s squad.“Man City have got loads of world class players that, apart from David Silva and Sergio Aguero, are all playing ordinary football at the same time. When you have that, it doesn’t matter how brilliant the players are, if you are not pulling in the same direction you are going to struggle,” he added.“I heard this morning that they are the oldest squad of players in the whole of the Premier League and, at the moment, I think City are really struggling.”Manchester City v Manchester United is live on talkSPORT in the UK on Sunday and live on talkSPORT.com outside the UK and Ireland, kick-off 13.30last_img
