The court heard Mongan was part of a group which approached two other men on November 24th, 2013.The youths were robbed of their phones as well as other personal items including medical cards. The young men received a number of blows to the head and back. The men were also struck with a baton during an assault but there was no evidence that Mongan was responsible for this. The court was told that Mongan, of 83 Meadowbank, Letterkenny, was charged with Section 2 assault.Judge Paul Kelly described the incident as very disturbing.Solicitor for the accused Patsy Gallagher said his client had no previous convictions and had been running with the wrong people whom he had now disassociated himself from.He admitted his client had been going down a slipper path and was taking alcohol and prescription drugs on the night in question. However, he said he had put that behind him and planned to go to Manchester where he had a job waiting for him.Judge Kelly ordered a probation report on Mongan and adjourned the case until February 23rd.MAN ON SLIPPERY PATH WHEN INVOLVED IN VICIOUS ASSAULT ON TWO OTHERS was last modified: January 27th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:assaultcourtdonegalletterkennyStephen Monganlast_img
